Dondra Head (Devinuwara) marks the extreme southern point of Sri Lanka. From this rocky cape, looking south across the Indian Ocean, there is no land mass until Antarctica!

Constructed by the British Imperial Lighthouse Service in 1889 using granite imported from Scotland, Dondra Lighthouse towers 49 meters (161 feet) above lush coconut gardens.
