A Thrilling Display of Ocean Power

Located in the coastal fishing village of Kudawella near Tangalle, Hummanaya Blow Hole is a rare marine geological spectacle. Water pressure builds inside a deep submerged rock fissure between two giant granite cliffs, erupting into a roaring jet of ocean spray reaching height between 25 to 30 meters (80 - 100 feet).

The name "Hummanaya" derives from the deep "hoo" sound reverberating through the surrounding rocks prior to each spectacular explosion.

Visiting Experience & Viewpoint

A modern paved walking track and observation deck provide safe, elevated views over the dramatic rock gorge and sea cliffs.

A small coastal marine museum near the ticket gate displays whale skeletons, coral fossils, and marine life specimens.

World’s 2nd Largest Blow Hole

Marvel as ocean swells blast water high above towering cliffs with a booming acoustic thunder.
